The Original Madras Trading Company started out in the 1970s when the grandfather of present owner Prasan Shah emigrated from Chennai to New York City to sell his lightweight, handspun cotton fabric to major American brands. Today this family business still occupies the same building in the city’s garment district, producing a covetable collection of button-down shirts in authentic, handwoven Madras.
Original Madras Light Shirt Jacket is crafted from soft lightweight cotton. This style features three patch pockets, a traditional shirt-style collar, and painterly brush stroke pattern against a classic check.
